Trivia
-
A gargantuan octopus pulling down a pirate ship & capturing it while mermaids guided it safely to shore was the scene of the float.
-
The float featured a pirate ship being "captured" by a huge octopus made of red lentils.
-
The mast was pulled up and down by the octopus and our "pirate" was defending his ship from the moving tentacles.
-
Several moving parts were on the float, including a 15' mast which could be raised and lowered.
-
The cannons made noise & spewed smoke. Bubbles flowed from under the ship.
-
The rocks for the "mermaids" were carved from foam. They were modeled from pictures of boulders taken on Mt. St. Helens.
-
The beautiful maiden head on the front of the ship was carved by Louise Tucker.
-
Alex Reinhold (Battle Ground Citizen of the Year) played the pirate who was steering the doomed ship to shore.
